I’m Bianca Hodselle Sannolo
AN ITALIAN EMBROIDERY ARTIST

My artistic work is defined by two key elements: first, my technique, which is deeply rooted in the values of tradition; and second, the deeply symbolic subjects I choose to paint and embroider.

In creating my works, I predominantly use oil paints, watercolors, and embroidery cotton. I paint on canvases, incorporating embroidery only in select areas to infuse my pieces with a sense of dimensionality and tactile richness.

This delicate interplay between two ancient, slow techniques requires patience and meticulous attention. When working exclusively with embroidery cotton, I treat the threads as if they were brushstrokes, often stitching freehand to achieve a painterly effect.
